TUMBLINGCAT / GUIDE

Export Markdown to PNG images or copy a selected passage

TumblingCat can export a complete Markdown document to PNG images or copy selected text as an image. Long documents are split into numbered pages, so you do not have to capture each screen manually.

Updated

Export the entire document

  1. Open a .md or .textpack file and check its headings, lists, and images in Reader. Save any edits you need to preserve.
  2. Choose More → Export Full Document as Images, then start the export. The dialog shows parsing, image download, layout, generation, and saving progress.
  3. Save the result when prompted. A single page is saved as PNG; multiple pages are numbered and packaged in a ZIP. Extract the ZIP to view and share them in order.

How long documents are paginated

Each PNG is 1440 pixels wide and up to approximately 4072 pixels tall, cropped shorter when appropriate. Multiple pages use four-digit numbering, such as notes-0001.png and notes-0002.png.

Native Windows and Android versions stream pages into a temporary ZIP, with a maximum of 2,000 pages. Time and storage requirements depend on the document and device. Review the result before sharing.

Copy only a selected passage

  1. Select the text you want to share.
  2. Choose More → Copy Selection as Image, then paste the PNG into an application that accepts images.
  3. If the system does not support the image clipboard, follow the prompt to save the image and select that file from the receiving app.

Requirements for embedded and remote pictures

Local images must be accessible. Windows resolves paths inside the document directory; regular Markdown on Android requires image-folder authorization. TextPack attachments are carried inside the file.

Native exports can download public HTTPS PNG, JPEG, GIF, and WebP images: up to 8 MiB and 10 seconds per image, 32 unique URLs, and 32 MiB total. Unsupported or unavailable images leave alternative-text placeholders; the completion message reports their count.

Cancel an export and keep the editable original

You can cancel during parsing, downloading, layout, generation, and packaging. Cancellation is temporarily unavailable while the final file is being written. Successful cancellation does not create or overwrite the destination.

PNG is for viewing and sharing, not for continuing to edit Markdown. Keep the original .md and attachments, or a TextPack document, for later changes.
